Class teachers

 Hi, welcome to Y1! I am the class teacher of Y1M and I am so excited to be in Y1 again this year and have lots of fun! 

     I'm so happy to be back in Y1, I can't wait for another exciting year!

Home learning

Reading at least 3x per week.

Any additional home learning will be communicated and sent home by class teachers.

 

Spellings

Your child's spelling shed login will be stuck in their reading record. Your child's class teacher will upload assignments weekly to be completed on spelling shed. Please practise your child's spellings with them at least 3 times a week, using the spelling shed website.

Autumn 1 Spelling Rules 

Week 1: words ending with ff, ll, ss, zz or ck

Week 2: words with the /k/ sound spilled 'k' and 'nk' spelling pattern

Week 3: words with the 'tch' trigraph

Week 4: adding '-s' or '-es' to make plurals

Week 5: adding the suffixes '-ing' and '-ed' 

Week 6: adding the prefix 'un-' and the suffixes '-er' and '-est' 

Week 7: compound words and words with unstressed vowels

Week 8: Words with the digraphs 'ai' and 'oi'

 

Times Tables

By the end of Y1, your child will have learnt their 2, 5 and 10 times table.

Please encourage them to chant their times tables at home.
